I talk alot to my clients about the importance of having a comfortable and safe environment to be able to work on their personal transformation. But what exactly do I mean?
To work on yourself, to become the person you want to be takes a lot of dedication. You have to do the work as no-one can do it for you, people can only guide and mentor you to that place. Often though, I have found people to be impatient and want instant results (and in honesty I'm no different wanting it all done yesterday), we all know this is unrealistic though. So what to do? Get yourself into a good frame of mind. This starts with with your external envrionment so take time out to look at your surroundings and seeing if they will work to support you to change. Go on have a look at your home. What do you see? Is it a mess, disorganised, colour schemes outdated. What on earth does this have to do with food and my diet? Good question but I work in a holistic manner and what is reflected on the external for the world to see is a good representation of the internal state you are in. Back to your home if it is disorganised and chaotic there is a pretty good chance that is how you are feeling and how you are going to approach change. Believe me, change is going to be slow and haphazard if you are in a disorganised mess. Again, I can personally vouch for this having worked hard to remove the chaos, to achieve my vision of a beautiful home. Now it has finally manifested itself I can tell you the peace that surrounds me is heaven and the chaos removed opens up so many more opportunities for me to be able to say yes to and to act upon them. Dream stuff to me. Lets get you there.
Step 1: the 15 minute rule (I learnt this from Flylady when life really had got on top of me) which is you can do anything for 15 minutes.
Step 2: pick a spot that is going to be your sanctuary
Step 3: apply the 15 minute rule. Clear out as much stuff as you can, donate, bin or recycle the waste, in 15 minutes - time yourself.
Step 4: repeat until your area is clear - this does not all have to be done in one day! Take your time and don't wear yourself out doing this. Think to yourself at all times how you are blessing yourself.
Step 5: when it is clean, tidy and a space that is truely yours apply the William Morris rule - only surround yourself with things that are beautiful, useful or both.
Once you have this area,it will start to fill your soul with a sense of peace and enable you to find your purpose to change yourself and your behaviours and attitude to life. You can then start to apply this rule to the whole house slowly clearing away all the old you and making way for the new you. Exciting.
I really am writing this from my heart as today I have experienced overwhelming joy from sitting in my beautiful new living area which only got decorated this week and the colour (a deep sensual blue) truely inspires me to reach out and connect with my purpose and to expand my vision.
To bring this round to food and transformation - when you make a purposeful decision to clear a space for you externally and you can see that change it works its magic by then making you question what you are stuffing into your body and how you can clear that old junk out of you by eating live raw food.
