Where Have I Been?

My goodness, what has happened to this blog?  I've been very bad at not keeping up to date.  I feel I have been hiding out and not interacting with you all. I find January to be such a strange month after the build up of all the festivities, children on holiday and so on, the month can then go a bit flat and I want to retreat and hibernate.  Although, judging by this blog I may well have been hibernating, I have in fact been extremely busy!  But now as I've just spotted my first snowdrops today - the first sign Spring is on its way (a time when this country is covered in snow, it seems a tad bizzare) and new life emerging, I thought its time to stick my head back out and say hello on this blog of mine!

So what have I been up?  I've been getting really stuck into working with some amazing clients who are doing some fanastic work at unleashing their inner bombshell's with the Shimmy n Sparkle Pretox.  I'm throughly enjoying the process and being a part of their transformation, it's a privalege I relish.  Could you be the next one I work with to uncover your inner purpose and witness your raw transformation?  I sure hope so.

I've also been learning alot about marketing and strategies, perhaps to the extent of overload!  Although I'm a firm believer in continual learning and growth.  And I have made 2009 my intention to grow The Raw Bombshell into a thriving business serving many people, so it's important process.  I'm ready to share so much and make so many connections with you all.  It's an exciting time ahead.

I've been busy with social media - I'm now on Facebook and Twitter if you'd like to come and be friends.  Everyday sees more people signing up for my eZine and I'm ecstatic with the feedback I'm recieving from you. Do let me know what you think and what you'd like featured. 

In all January has been a month of accuracy - getting to grips with The Raw Bombshell and how she is going to serve you best. 

Oh and in response to my last post - the children have adopted a polar bear and a bottlenose dolphin, so much for my suggestion of an elephant!

Nuts, nuts, nuts

Last night, on a group coaching call I'm involved with, the subject of nuts came up and specifically how people are drawn to them.  It appears that the majority of people, myself included are at the moment eating what we feel are too many.  Now the main observation that came about is that nuts are being eaten as we are after that dense, heavy feel that is not there in greens, fruits and vegetables.  It's that transition as we move away from the cooked foods and into the raw foods; the requirement for something a little more substanial as that is what we are used to on a standard cooked diet.  I'm completely with this philosophy as I've fed people new to raw the heavier raw gourmet foods and they have expressed that it feels like the 'missing link' for want of a better expression! 

Then of course, we have the clinging onto nuts and stuffing them into our faces as we need to slow down the detox bought about by eating purer foods.  This is a valid reason, as the emotions detoxed when we eat are a surprising side effect to the physical detox symptoms we are expecting.  Having to face your emotions in a raw state is at times a challenge and the easiest way to deal with them is to attempt to stuff them back down by reaching for the denser foods ie nuts. 

So nuts get a bad name in the raw world as much as in the cooked world who tell us not to eat too many nuts as they are fattening.  Poor old nuts!  If only they weren't so damn tasty....

However, there is something not congruent within me at the moment with these philosophy's as to why I'm eating more nuts than normal.  I'm a great believer in inuitive eating and as I've embarked on a raw journey it's become easier to take note of my eating habits. My body has always naturally craved greens, something for which I'm thankful for, but that green smoothie breakfast is just not doing it for me at the moment.  Whereas, the nut mylk porridge with fruit is heaven sent.  This is what my body is telling me to have.  Now to me, its no coincidence that here in the UK, its pretty cold, dark and miserable out there and my body is wanting denser foods.  To me, this is my body's way of fueling itself for the long winter ahead.  Even in the cooked world, winter is a time for denser foods in the UK, so it's no surprise to me then that my body is wanting to do the same even though I'm eating raw.  The big question though is, do I fight this urge and ignore my bodies plea for a denser start to the day and keep up the green smoothies or just go with the flow?  Its's a tough call but I will keep a note of the amount of nuts I'm eating and see if I'm really being excessive with them. 

Daisy Green Party Review

A wonderful night!  There is something magical when you come across passionate individuals who have a vision and see it come to life.  That is what it felt like last night, magical, when the vision Nicola had sprang to life with the launch of her ethical fashion magazine Daisy Green, an idea that came to her only 6 months ago.  Having a vision of where you want to be is at the core of my raw coaching model.  The work and the dedication shown last night was inspiring. 

The fashion show was fantastic with some stunning creations which really bought home the message   that you can be ethical without giving up the glamour!  I have to mention the Izzy Lane shetland sheep coats which she creates form the wool off sheep she rescues from slaughter, loves and cares for them whilst the sheep live out their natural lives in the Yorkshire Dales.  They are gorgeous, the coats that is not the sheep (well the sheep do look quite cute!!)

Unfortuantly, I didn't win anything in the raffle (money raised for Lisa, she spoke of her inspirtional story of courgage when she survived the London Bus bomb of 7th July, and how she is off to help landmine victims in Cambodia with the charity MAG), now why is that, am I just not manifesting hard enough holding the winning bounty or am I just plain unlucky??!!

Onto the buffet and yes, there was some food for me to eat as there was grapes with the cheese presented in hamper baskets which I thought looked great, it inspired my friend to perhaps incorporate that idea at her wedding, and watermelon wedges which looked beautiful on a bed of green leaves with parma ham draped over - you decide if that is raw and on your menu!  It has got me a thinking though, about putting together a recipe book of delectable creations that are raw and suitable for a buffet. Watch this space....

Of course my favourite part was the handbags at dawn moment when the magpie swop opened and all the ladies dived in to grab some new clothes (in return for donating some of our old clothes).  I walked away with some stunning dresses and, yippee, a pair of shoes (if you know me, you will know I have a weakness for shoes!)
